Understanding the Week 11 Fan Consensus
The FanVote Top 25 represents the aggregated opinions of thousands of verified college sports fans. Unlike traditional media polls which rely on a small panel of isolated sportswriters or coaches, our platform democratizes the ranking process. For Week 11, the data you see above is actively compiled from raw user ballots submitted before the weekly deadline.
Raw vs. Normalized Data: You may notice slight variations between the "Raw" and "Normalized" tabs. The Raw poll calculates a direct average of all submitted ballots. However, to prevent massively popular fanbases from statistically overpowering smaller schools, our Normalized algorithm calculates the consensus within each individual fanbase first, and then averages those group consensus ballots together. This ensures that every team's fanbase gets an equal voice in the national landscape.
We actively monitor voting patterns to detect anomalies and remove troll ballots. If you believe your favorite team is ranked incorrectly, the best way to fix the narrative is to cast your weekly ballot and encourage other fans to do the same. Compare our Fan Consensus against the AP or Coaches poll to see exactly where traditional media bias falls short.
