How does FanVote calculate the Top 25?

Our system normalizes votes so that large fanbases do not overpower smaller ones. We first determine the average rank for each team according to a specific fanbase (e.g., all Michigan fans). We then take the average across all 130+ FBS fanbases to determine the final National Consensus rank. This ensures every fanbase has an equal say.

When are new polls released?

Our polling windows generally open on Sundays at 12:00 PM EST and close on Tuesdays at 5:00 PM EST. The final consensus Top 25 results are generated and locked immediately at the deadline. This schedule gives fans enough time to digest the weekend's games before deciding their rankings.

Can I vote multiple times?

No. Vote integrity is central to FanVote. You may only submit one ballot per sport, per week. However, you can edit and update your ballot as many times as you like before the Tuesday deadline. Once the deadline passes, your last saved ballot is locked in.

Why do I have to pick a favorite team?

Selecting your favorite team is a crucial piece of our methodology. In order to properly normalize votes across conferences and fanbases, we need to know your affiliation. It also allows us to show fun metrics, like which fanbase is the most biased or which fanbases tend to agree with each other the most.

Can I change my favorite team?

To prevent users from skewing another fanbase's data by pretending to be a fan of a rival, your team selection is permanent. We do offer a one-time 'Team Change' pass via our Premium service if you made a mistake at signup, but frequent swapping is not allowed.

What is a 'Power Voter'?

Power Voters are premium users who have purchased a status upgrade to support the site. As a thank you, their ballots are given a 3x weight multiplier when determining their specific fanbase's consensus. This allows our most dedicated fans to have a stronger voice without breaking the core normalization model.

What sports are currently supported?

Currently, we focus primarily on NCAA FBS College Football and NCAA Division I Men's Basketball. We plan to expand to other sports, including the NFL, NBA, and Women's College Basketball, based on community demand.

Are you affiliated with the NCAA, AP, or CFP?

No. FanVote is a completely independent platform built by fans, for fans. We are in no way affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NCAA, the Associated Press, or the College Football Playoff Committee.
